1. Service Provider

Our services from our office in England are provided by Cohen & Gresser (UK) LLP.  Cohen & Gresser (UK) LLP is a limited liability partnership registered in England and Wales with registered number OC421038 and registered office at 2-4 King Street, London, SW1Y 6QP. Our U.K. VAT registration number is 296 8397 28.

2. Regulation

Cohen & Gresser (UK) LLP is a body recognized by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, SRA number 647311. The firm and its members and associate lawyers are authorized and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (the “SRA”) or the Bar Standards Board. Each member, or associate lawyer, of Cohen & Gresser (UK) LLP is either a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales, a barrister called to the Bar of England and Wales, or a Registered Foreign or European Lawyer. A list of the members of Cohen & Gresser (UK) LLP is available for inspection at the registered office, together with a list of those non-members who are designated as partners.

The firm may also engage the services of external consultants, who may be solicitors or barristers in England and Wales, or lawyers qualified in other jurisdictions. Such individuals will be subject to regulation by the relevant regulatory body in their place of admission.

3. Professional Liability Insurance

Our professional indemnity insurers are Axis Specialty Europe SE and Sompo International.  This insurance covers our practices in the United Kingdom and extends to acts and omissions wherever they occur in the world.  This insurance does not cover work done by our affiliated firms.  Further details may be obtained upon request.

4. Our Services

We want to give you the best possible service. However, if at any point you become unhappy or concerned about the service we have provided, you should inform us immediately so we can do our best to resolve the problem. In the first instance it may be helpful to contact the person who is working on your case to discuss your concerns and we will do our best to resolve any issues. If you would like to make a formal complaint, our complaint procedure is available here.  Making a complaint will not affect how we handle your matter.

If the matter is still not resolved at the conclusion of our complaints process, you may be entitled to ask the Legal Ombudsman of England and Wales to consider your complaint.  Before accepting a complaint for investigation, the Legal Ombudsman will check that you have tried to resolve your complaint with us first. If you have, then you must take your complaint to the Legal Ombudsman:

  1. within six months of receiving our final response to your complaint; and
  2. no more than one year from the date of the act or omission being complained about; or
  3. no more than one year from the date when you should reasonably have known there was cause for complaint.

You may also be entitled to apply for an assessment of a bill sent by the Firm under Part III of the Solicitors Act 1974.  You have a right to challenge or complain about a bill.  If all or part of a bill remains unpaid, we may charge interest on the outstanding amount unless you have raised an bona fide query.
